The "When"

25 to 28 April 2014, which was selected as the 27th is a public holiday – and the week following includes 1st May - making this an ideal time to take an extended break and explore the Kwazulu Natal's Midlands, Coastal and Mountain areas!

The "Where"

Open to all BMW motorcycles and their owners, the BMW Bike Fest will be based at KZN Wildlife - Midmar Resort is on the shores of Midmar Dam which is on the Umgeni River - and is centrally located to explore Natal Midlands, the Valley of a Thousand Hills, Sani Pass and a choice of visiting the North and South coast of Natal. Approximately 100 km from Durban, and 500 km from Gauteng and Bloemfonten - KZN Wildlife - Midmar Resort beckons you to surrender to nature - wash away your worries and more fun than you could ever fit into one holiday!

The "What" you can expect

For 1st timers - this is an owners' event, arranged by BMW Clubs Africa for BMW enthusiasts! This event has the full support of BMW Motorrad SA and the dealer network.

The day activities are completely your own choice.

The BMW MCC Durban is planning routes to show you all the great riding in the area, or explore on your own. Choices of tar and off-road routes will be on offer, giving you the opportunity to ride in unique areas on routes specially arranged for this event - these will be recced and made available as MapSource or Basemap routes before the event. Rides are not "led", so please ensure that you take the time before and do your own planning with your ride buddies.

The main organised activities are the evening dinners where you can rub shoulders with fellow riders, enjoy great local food, be entertained and win some fantastic prizes. Breakfast and lunch is optional and will be available at Midmar Resort or any of the local eateries. If you choose to have breakfast at Midmar: please book breakfast when you make your accommodation booking as well.

The "What" you need to do

Please contribute what you are able to our donation fund - this is used as a "Thank You" from us and is given to local charities in order to make a difference in the local community.

  1. Register on the website:
    • The cost is R 900 for all participants over 12 - the same fee applies for riders, pillions and non-riders. For those under 12 years old - a fee of R 300 will apply, to cover the cost of dinners and facilities required.
    • All riders need to register individually please. This is to ensure that we collect all the required information required to give you the best support we can.
    • For this cost you will receive a special Bike Fest golf shirt, 3 dinners and all the other benefits of attending the event.
    • Note that you need to pay your registration fee when registering as we need to apply an automatic cancellation rule after 7 days to ensure that we don’t have provisional bookings that are not committed to – and therefore prevent other participants to book.
  2. Accommodation booking:
    • As soon as you have registered - please contact our local accommodation supplier Howick Travel (ref Accommodation page)
    • Note that Accommodation fees are dependent on the accommodation provider T&C's - please note that it will be critical for you to pay your deposit as required ensuring you don’t lose it.
